Ingredientes estrella I: baba de caracol

En esta nueva entrada inauguro una serie de entradas que intentaré seguir desarrollado. Se trata de una serie que hablará de ingredientes estrella y/o raros de la cosmética coreana.

Para hoy, hablaré sobre uno bastante popular: la baba de caracol.

Today, I will speak about a very popular one: the snail mucin.

Si mal no recuerdo, al menos en mi país este ingrediente estuvo de moda hace unos cuantos años, en la televisión siempre veías anuncios de marcas y de la teletienda con productos milagrosos cuyo componente era la baba de caracol. Yo sinceramente veía con suspicacia esta moda, me preguntaba quién podría ponerse ESO en la cara, y dudaba de su eficacia.

Evidentemente, la moda pasó sin pena ni gloria, ya que resultó ser un timo.

Y ahora llegamos a Corea del Sur, descubrimos que usan baba de caracol y pensamos ¿por qué? Si es un fiasco…

ERROR. La industria cosmética coreana es mucho más avanzada que la gran parte de la occidental, sobre todo en cuestión de ingredientes naturales y principios activos. Es una industria en constante cambio, dedicada por completo a sus consumidores, los cuales marcan el ritmo del mercado. Las empresas se esfuerzan de verdad por crear y diseñar productos cada vez mejores, para poder atraer a más clientes, fidelizarlos o mantener a los leales.

Es por esto, que no podíamos esperar que la baba de caracol pasara por lo mismo que pasó en mi país, por ejemplo.

Este ingrediente compone muchísimos, pero que muchísimos productos de cosmética coreanos de todo tipo: cremas, esencias, sérums, ampollas, mascarillas, champús...

If I remember right, at least in my country this ingredient was fashionable a few years ago, on television you always saw advertisements for brands and the telestore with miracle products whose component was snail mucin. I honestly saw with suspicion this fashion, I wondered who could put THAT in their face, and doubted about its effectiveness.

Obviously, the fashion passed out without pain or glory, since it turned out to be a scam.

And now we have South Korea, we find that they use snail mucin and we think why? That's bullshit ...

ERROR. The Korean cosmetic industry is much more advanced than great part of the western one, especially in terms of natural and active ingredients. It is a constantly changing industry, dedicated entirely to its consumers, which set the rhytmn of the market. Companies really strive to create and design better and better products, in order to attract more customers, turn or keep them loyal.

That is why we could not expect the snail mucin to go through the same thing that happened in my country, for example.

Many, many korean cosmetic products are made of this ingredient: creams, essences, serums, ampoules, masks, shampoos ...

Algunos más o menos eficaces que otros, pero desde luego siempre podremos encontrar el que mejor nos convenga y realmente funcione. 

No me quiero extender demasiado con muchos tecnicismos que seguro no vais a leer. Pero quiero que os quedéis con lo realmente importante, a la hora de formaros una primera opinión. Hablemos sobre las propiedades más importantes de esta maravillosa baba:

• La principal propiedad es la regeneración. Simple y llanamente. ¿Qué implica? Literalmente regenera y protege la piel, librándola con el uso continuado de cicatrices, celulitis, caspa, quemaduras, acné, marquitas, manchas, ayudando a desprender células muertas de la piel y crear nuevas, etc. No es descabellado, si pensamos que la baba es lo que protege al caracol de agresiones externas y le ayuda a curar más rápidamente su cuerpo o concha si por cualquier circunstancia se ha herido o infectado con algún microorganismo. Además le ayuda a desprenderse de sustancias tóxicas. Nuestra piel lucirá más uniforme, con menos imperfecciones y sana.

• Antienvejecimiento. Contiene componentes clave en la prevención y eliminación (me gusta más decir atenuación o reducción…) de arrugas y signos de envejecimiento.

Some are more or less effective than others, but of course we can always find the one that suits us best and really works.

I do not want to extend too much with technicalities that you are not going to read. But I want you to keep what is really important, when forming a first opinion. Let's talk about the most important properties of this wonderful slime:

• The main property is regeneration. Simply and plainly. Implying what? It literally regenerates and protects the skin, removing scars, cellulite, dandruff, burns, acne, markers, blemishes, helping to loosen dead skin cells and create new, etc. with the continued use. It is not so crazy, if we think that the mucin is what protects the snail from external aggressions and helps him to heal faster his body or shell if for any circumstance he has been injured or infected with a microorganism. It also helps him to get rid of toxic substances. Our skin will look more uniform, with less imperfections and healthier.

• Antiaging. It contains key components in prevention and elimination (I like more to say attenuation or reduction ...) of wrinkles and signs of aging.

• Colágeno, elastina, alantoína (este combo de sustancias principalmente se encargan de regenerar, sobre todo de crear células nuevas, y de aportar elasticidad a la piel para atenuar la sequedad/deshidratación y como consecuencia reducir las arrugas)
• Vitaminas (las mejor implicadas a la hora de nutrir nuestra piel: A y E)
• Ácido glicólico (este maravilloso ácido también conocido como AHA, que realiza una exfoliación de tipo química suave en cuanto a su nivel de concentración en la baba, y que puede complementarse según nuestro tipo de piel con una mecánica)
• Antibióticos (queda claro, nos ayuda contra el acné y las bacterias que pueden alojarse en nuestra piel)

• Collagen, elastin, allantoin (this combo of substances mainly are responsible for regenerating, especially to create new cells, and provide elasticity to the skin to reduce dryness / dehydration and consequently reduce wrinkles)
• Vitamins (the best involved when it comes to nourishing our skin: A and E)
• Glycolic acid (this wonderful acid also known as AHA, which performs a chemical-like exfoliation in terms of its level of concentration in the mucin, and which can be supplemented according to our skin type with a mechanic one)
• Antibiotics (clearly, it helps us against acne and bacteria that can be in our skin)

Sí, he probado algunos productos con filtrado de baba de caracol y mi opinión es que realmente funciona. Depende eso sí, de cada persona y su piel el hecho de que haga efecto antes o después. En mi caso noté algunos cambios inmediatos a los pocos días y a partir de ahí los cambios han ido ralentizándose pero siendo constantes. ¿Lo recomiendo? Por supuesto, me parece un ingrediente realmente beneficioso y hay muchos productos que funcionan genial que podéis probar. 

Hasta aquí la entrada de hoy, la verdad es que mi piel lleva una semanita rebelde…no sé si es por estar con gripe, por el frío o porque necesito otro tónico. Le he echado el ojo para comprar este mes que viene la Beauty Water de SON&PARK y darle una oportunidad. ¿Alguna otra recomendación que os haya ido genial a vosotr@s?

Yes, I have tried some products with snail mucin filtering and my opinion is that it really works. It depends on each person and their skin the fact that it takes effect sooner or later. In my case I noticed some immediate changes in a few days and from there the changes have been slowing down but being constant. I recommend it? Of course, I find it a really beneficial ingredient and there are many products that work great that you can try.

Here ends today's entry, the truth is that my skin is a rebel this week ... I do not know if it's because of I'm sick, because of the cold or because I need another tonic. I want to buy next month the SON & PARK Beauty Water and give it a try. Any other recommendations that have gone great for you?
